Reason for God Small Group Description

Why is there suffering in the world?  How could a loving God send people to Hell?  Why isn't Christianity more inclusive?  How can one religion be "right" and the rest "wrong"?  These are just a few of the questions even committed believers wrestle with today. In this book that we’ll be reading through this semester, Tim Keller uses literature, philosophy, real-life conversations and reasoning, and even pop culture to explain how faith in a Christian God is a soundly rational belief, held by thoughtful people of intellectual integrity with a deep compassion for those who truly want to know the truth.  Each week, we’ll use a particular chapter as a launching pad into discussing the claims Keller makes and how they play out in real-life.  This group, like the book, is for everyone—both the “convinced” and the “skeptical”.

NOTE: This is a "Lunchtime" group.  We will be meeting each week at Trappeze Pub, which is located in the space previously occupied by Hot Corner coffee shop (on the 40-Watt end of downtown Athens).  In addition to offering a variety of coffees, Trappeze has a full menu of inexpensive, great food that comes out quickly.  Parking on the street nearby is not a problem even during lunchtime.  If need be, you can park at Redeemer and walk the two blocks up to the pub.  If you want to walk, get off the bus at the Arch and make the 5-minute walk over.
