Sermon Series on Elijah and Elisha (Spring 2008)

This semester we’re looking at two of the most well known prophets in the Old Testament, Elijah and Elisha. Although neither has a book of the Bible named for them as do other prophets, nor did either write anything in the Bible, both have some of the most memorable accounts of God’s work surrounding them.  As we will see, Elijah and Elisha point forward to the much greater prophet, Jesus—many of whose amazing works are reminiscent of Elijah and Elisha. From both, we hear the prophetic call to faith and repentance as we live in this world as those who do not belong to this world.
